When school is not in session, many local children go without a meal, and are often home alone. The Salvation Army has several summer programs that provide kids the opportunity to enjoy healthy meals, play sports, engage in fun activities and experience summer camp.
How We Help
Please contact your local Community Center for more information on their specific programs.
Summer Day Camp

Programs for teens are also offered. Contact your local center for more details.
On a mission to enrich the minds and bodies of children, we take a Salvation Army canteen (mobile feeding truck) to local neighborhoods. Our staff and volunteers distribute hot meals and free, age-appropriate books to kids ranging in age from 1-18. We hope to expand the program into more Tri-State communities each summer.

Our local community centers use generous donations to fund the camp experience for kids in their neighborhood.
The innovative programming provides an opportunity for physical, social, educational and spiritual growth. A few highlights include:
An integral part of the goal of Camp SWONEKY is to help children grow in awareness and knowledge of God. Camp-wide Sunday morning worship services are conducted in addition to daily Morning Discovery and daily cabin devotions.
Camp SWONEKY is licensed by the State of Ohio, accredited by the American Camp Association, and is a member of the Christian Camp and Conference Association.
