Cincinnati, OH (July 15, 2015) – The Salvation Army today announced that it inducted Mr. Michael T. Cappel, Partner at Keating Muething & Klekamp, and Mr. Jonathan D. Niemeyer, Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the Western & Southern Financial Group, to the Cincinnati Advisory Board. Like all Salvation Army Advisory Board members, Mr. Cappel and Mr. Niemeyer were tasked with aiding The Salvation Army in Greater Cincinnati as it works to fulfill its mission.

Michael Cappel is a partner at Keating Muething & Klekamp, where his practice is concentrated in the area of litigation, with a focus on commercial litigation, real estate litigation, tort defense and appellate practice. He also has experience in in personal injury litigation, wrongful death litigation, employer international tort litigation, real estate and construction litigation, and environmental litigation. Mike is very involved with neighborhood redevelopment initiatives in Cincinnati, serving as president of the College Hill Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation (CHCURC) since 2008, as College Hill’s representative to Cincinnati Neighborhood Business Districts United since 2008, and a member on the City of Cincinnati’s Task Force for Innovative Community Development Funding in 2014. In these roles, Mike has successfully worked to secure funding for targeted development projects. Mike earned his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 2005. While in law school, Mike was a fellow with the Lois & Richard Rosenthal Institute for Justice/Ohio Innocence Project and served on the editorial board for the UC Law Review. He earned his B.A. from St. Louis University, magna cum laude, in 2002.
Jonathan Niemeyer is Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the Western & Southern Financial Group. Niemeyer leads Western & Southern’s Law Department, including Compliance and Government Relations. In his role as General Counsel, he advises and manages all legal, compliance and government affairs for the company and its diverse financial services subsidiaries and affiliates. Niemeyer earned a B.A. in Political Science, with distinction, from the University of Kentucky, and graduated from the UK College of Law, with distinction, Order of the Coif, and was an editor for the University of Kentucky Law Journal. He is a member of the Cincinnati and Kentucky Bar Associations, the Financial Services Roundtable and the American Council of Life Insurers. He most recently served on the board of the Association of Life Insurance Counsel, where he continues as a member. Niemeyer has served on various boards and committees at Montgomery Community Church, Doug Pelfrey’s Kicks for Kids, and David Pollack’s Empower Foundation. He and his family are active at Crossroads Church in Oakley, and he is a member of the United Way’s Tocqueville Society. Jon and his wife have two teenage children and reside in Cincinnati.
Members of The Salvation Army Advisory Board actively participate in the organization’s operations, programs and fundraising. “We’re grateful that Mike and Jon have agreed to contribute their time, talent and treasure to benefit The Salvation Army’s mission,” stated Matt Pearce, Development Director at The Salvation Army. “The Board members are an invaluable resource in our efforts to serve the Greater Cincinnati community; we simply can’t achieve all we do without their support.”
