Cincinnati, OH (October 20, 2015) –The Salvation Army today announced that it is making an appeal for sponsors to participate in its annual Adopt-a-Family program. This annual program provides gifts for low-income families and seniors who are sponsored by generous individuals, groups and companies. Each year the program serves approximately 500 families and seniors, ensuring that they receive gifts for Christmas.
“We’re deeply grateful to those who can sponsor a family,” noted Sarah Wagner, Director of Social Ministries at The Salvation Army. “We are blessed every year by the generosity of Adopt-a-Family sponsors who come forward to provide gifts for others, and are confident that many compassionate individuals and groups will come forward when they hear about the program. It’s a great source of joy to the sponsors, as they get to help a less-fortunate family or senior at Christmas.”
Sponsors for Adopt-a-Family can specify the size of family for whom they will provide gifts, and the Salvation Army will match them with an appropriate family. After committing to sponsor a family, sponsors will be provided with a wish list of key items specifically desired by the family; however, it is entirely up to the sponsors to determine what they’ll purchase and how much they’ll spend. Sponsors will be asked to drop off their sponsored family’s wrapped gifts on December 8th or 9th at a location which will be provided to them.
The best way to get started is to complete the Adopt-a-Family Sponsor Application form which can be found online by visiting http://swo.salvationarmy.org/SouthwestOhio/aaf-sponsors. Or, for more information, contact The Salvation Army via e-mail at swo.adoptafamily@use.salvationarmy.org. The support of the community in meeting this need is greatly appreciated.
