Cincinnati, OH (July 1, 2015) – The Salvation Army today announced that it set a goal of $70,000 for the 2015 “Christmas in July” Campaign. The campaign provides financial support for The Salvation Army’s various children and youth programs that operate across Greater Cincinnati.
“Each day, we’re working to shape the lives of children and youth in our communities,” stated Major Larry Ashcraft, Divisional Commander at The Salvation Army. “We have a significant heritage working with children, and take seriously our role to help shape their values, skills and social engagement.”
Last year, more than 2,000 local children were directly impacted by The Salvation Army’s programs that include After-school, Summer Enrichment/Day Camp and Camp SWONEKY. Through these programs, area children are provided with meals, mentoring, and tutoring, and participate in a wide range of physical, social and skill development activities.
“Although having the kettles out in July is not as well-known as their presence at Christmas, we have found that the community readily embraces our efforts,” stated Matt Pearce, Development Director at The Salvation Army. “We’re grateful to Kroger, for letting us in their stores, and for all those who volunteer and donate to the Christmas in July campaign. The funds enable us to have such a tremendous impact on the lives of local children.”
The iconic red kettles with bell-ringers will be at many area Kroger stores throughout the month of July. Those who would like to support the Christmas in July campaign are encouraged to contribute to the kettles. Alternatively, donations can be made by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY, or by sending a check to The Salvation Army at 114 E. Central Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
