Cans of Chili will be Distributed to Area Families through Salvation Army Pantries
Cincinnati, OH (May 2, 2014) – The Salvation Army today announced that it received more than 3,800 cans of chili from Gold Star Chili as part of their “3-Way 3-Pointer” promotion during the Cincinnati Bengals’ 2013 season. For each 3-point conversion completed by the Bengals this past season, Gold Star Chili committed to donating $300 worth of chili to The Salvation Army. The donation, weighing in at roughly two tons of chili, will be used to benefit families coming to The Salvation Army for assistance at area Salvation Army Community Centers.
“We’re delighted to partner with The Salvation Army to benefit local families in need,” explained Charlie Howard, Vice President of Marketing and Brand Development at Gold Star Chili. “Gold Star believes strongly in giving back to the community, and we’re delighted to be providing food that can be distributed to the families and individuals most in need.”
Gold Star Chili also supports The Salvation Army with an annual Christmas Red Kettle Drive in all of its restaurants and is also an annual supporter of the organization’s golf outing.
“We’re very grateful to Gold Star for their support and donations,” said Matt Pearce, Development Director at The Salvation Army. “We can only serve the less-fortunate in our community when others step forward to support our work. Corporate partners like Gold Star Chili are imperative to our ability to help our neighbors in need.”
Last year, The Salvation Army provided support to nearly 60,000 individuals across Greater Cincinnati, including more than 20,000 that received Emergency Assistance in the form of food, rent, utilities, clothing and other necessities. Families and individuals in need should contact their nearest Salvation Army Community Center.
