CINCINNATI (May 27, 2015) — The Salvation Army announced today that four of the five Herbert brothers will join the celebration of National Donut Day to be held on June 5th at Fountain Square. The Herbert brothers, comprised of Josh, Dave, Joe, Matt and Pete, won the 2009 “Doritos Crash the Super Bowl” ad contest, and used their winnings to propel their creative talents into a professional production company. For Donut Day 2015, all of the brothers except Matt will be on-hand to participate. Along with other local celebrities, The Herbert brothers will compete in the Donut Stacking game, in which one participant will be crowned the “Grand Champion Donut Handler.”
“We’re delighted that four of the five Herbert brothers are able to join us for Donut Day 2015,” stated Matt Pearce, Development Director at The Salvation Army. “Their creativity and humor brings a fun and unique element to the event. We had a great time with them last year.” At Donut Day 2014, Dave Herbert won the acclaimed “Grand Champion Donut Handler” prize, for his donut stacking skills.
Since 2009, the Herbert Brothers have worked together to create numerous popular ads for nationally-recognized brands. Natives of Batesville, IN, the Herbert brothers still live and work from this quaint Midwestern city, often including family and friends in their projects. The Herbert Brothers made their directorial debut in January 2015 on the feature film In Between Days, which is currently scheduled to release late in the year.
Donut Day (#nationaldonutday) is presented on the first Friday of June each year, and honors the heritage of The Salvation Army’s ministry in support of troops at the front lines starting in World War I. In Cincinnati, Donut Day is presented by the Greater Cincinnati Retail Bakers Association (GCRBA), to benefit the work of The Salvation Army in Greater Cincinnati. Generous event sponsors help to ensure the fundraising success of the event. But mostly, it’s a great way to celebrate donuts, encourage support of our local bakeries, and build awareness of The Salvation Army’s programs that impact the lives of those most in need in our local community.
Donut Day 2015 will be Friday, June 5th, 2015, starting at Noon on Fountain Square. Local bakeries will highlight their special offerings and distribute free donuts to attendees. Local celebrities will participate in a Donut Stacking competition, with the top players competing in the final round to determine who will take the coveted top prize.
