Cincinnati, OH (November 11, 2015) – The Salvation Army today announced that it inducted Mr. Steve Kane, Partner at Ernst & Young, and Mr. Gary Millerchip, Chief Executive Officer at Kroger Personal Finance, to the Cincinnati Advisory Board. Like all Salvation Army Advisory Board members, Mr. Kane and Mr. Millerchip were tasked with aiding The Salvation Army in Greater Cincinnati as it works to fulfill its mission.
“We’re delighted to have Steve and Gary join our Advisory Board,” stated Major Larry Ashcraft, Divisional Commander at The Salvation Army. “Each one brings a unique set of skills and leadership that will benefit our local efforts to meet human needs and provide a lasting, positive impact in the community.”
Steve Kane is a Partner with EY who splits his time between the firm’s financial services audit practice and the firm’s National Accounting Office. Over the course of his career, Steve has led assurance and advisory engagements for a variety of clients in the insurance, banking and asset management industries. From 2011 to 2013, Steve served as a practice fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and maintains CPA licenses in Ohio and New York. Additionally, Steve has attained the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and is a member of the CFA Institute. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Master’s degree in Accountancy and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Business Economics. Steve and his wife Shannon live in Western Hills with their two sons.
Gary Millerchip, as Chief Executive Officer of Kroger Personal Finance, is responsible for the division of Kroger that delivers financial and retail services through the Kroger family of brands and stores. This includes credit cards, gift cards, money services, wireless telecom, insurance services, kiosks and ATMs. Gary is also responsible for leading the integration of Kroger’s corporate strategic initiatives. Prior to joining Kroger in 2008, he was responsible for the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Personal Credit Card business in the UK. Gary joined RBS in 1987 and held leadership in multiple disciplines during his time there. Gary earned a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Services from the University of Central England and a post-graduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Warwick. Gary and his wife Gita live in Montgomery and have two children.
Members of The Salvation Army Advisory Board actively participate in the organization’s operations, programs and fundraising. “We’re grateful that they have agreed to contribute their time, talent and treasure to benefit The Salvation Army’s mission,” stated Matt Pearce, Development Director at The Salvation Army. “The Board members are an invaluable resource in our efforts to serve the Greater Cincinnati community; we simply can’t achieve all we do without their support.”
