In Final Week of Campaign, Agency is Still Optimistic the $800,000 Goal Can Be Achieved
Cincinnati, OH (December 18, 2014) – The Salvation Army in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky today announced that its 2014 Kettle Campaign needs to raise $300,000 in the final week to reach the stated goal of $800,000. The campaign ends on Christmas Eve, December 24th. The Kettle Campaign has been a staple fundraiser for The Salvation Army since the 1890s, with the iconic red kettles raising funds that support programs and services provided throughout the year.
“We’re making an extra appeal to the community to support the campaign in the final week,” explained Major Larry Ashcraft, Divisional Commander at The Salvation Army. “We rely on the funds raised during the (kettle) campaign to support our work in the community not only at Christmas, but throughout the year. I’m confident that we can still reach the goal, given the generosity of those who live in this community.”
The Salvation Army provides an array of social services to the local community through six Community Centers as well as specific facilities for low-income seniors, those going through drug or alcohol rehabilitation, emergency disaster response, and a summer camp. Operating locally for more nearly 130 years, The Salvation Army has relied upon its iconic kettle campaign since the 1890s.
The 2014 Kettle Campaign is present at nearly 100 local retail stores, with Kroger, Walmart and Sam’s Club as primary partner sites. The campaign runs six days a week, generally 10 am to 8 pm daily. The final day of the campaign is Wednesday, December 24th. Those interested in supporting the campaign are encouraged to contribute whenever they see the familiar red kettles. Those not able to visit a kettle can donate online at www.onlineredkettle.org, or www.salvationarmycincinnati.org, by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY or by sending a check to “The Salvation Army” at 114 E.
