Funds Provide Support for Emergency Assistance in the Local Community
Cincinnati, OH (October 9, 2014) – The Salvation Army today announced that it received $15,000 from the Scripps Howard Foundation. The funds provide support for The Salvation Army’s delivery of Emergency Assistance, meeting the basic needs of food, shelter, transportation and utilities for those in need in our local community.
“We’re deeply grateful to receive this support from the Scripps Howard Foundation,” stated Sarah Wagner, Director of Social Ministries at The Salvation Army. “Every day, we meet with those whose lives are hanging by a thread, and they need basic forms of assistance to survive, as well as guidance to help them thrive once more. Generous supporters like this make it possible for us to touch and impact many lives.”
Last year, The Salvation Army in Greater Cincinnati provided Emergency Assistance to more than 20,000 individuals in the local community.
“It’s no surprise the demand for basic needs, shelter, transportation and utility assistance continues to grow,” stated Patty Cottingham, Vice President, Administration at the Scripps Howard Foundation. “Our community is so fortunate to have The Salvation Army and its many programs that address not only this crisis, but also provides long-term support.”
